We began by purchasing an inexpensive lab for hunting. By the time our girl was 2 years of age she could not jump and could not get around well. Her hips were severely dysplastic. This painful experience quickly educated me on the value and importance of good breeding and the importance of health clearances.
I was raised on my family farm in eastern Washington, where I learned the importance of hard work and giving more then 100% effort. I raised and showed numerous livestock (pig, lamb, steer) for 4H while I was home on the farm. I went to college at Washington State University where I graduated with a degree in wildlife biology. I recently retired as a wildlife biologist working 33 years with the US Forest Service. During 2020 I received the Wildlife Biologist of the Year award for the Pacific Northwest Region. I love to excel, going beyond what's expected, in all I do.
I had always been interested in hunting due to my family background. I began hunting upland bird, waterfowl and big game after college. Hunting with a great retriever was an incredible experience which led me down many roads with wonderful experiences. I began focusing my spare time on dog training, running retriever competitions and breeding labs. No matter what I chose to do with my labs, having a great family companion with an awesome temperament was top priority. These experiences in life have definitely influenced my values as a breeder and my breeding program.
